Fake “official” sites and promo codes: five signs of a scam

Where there are bonuses, fakes appear. How to tell the operator’s real page from a copy and protect your data.

Bonuses attract not only players but scammers. Fake pages copy the operator’s design, promise “exclusive” codes and harvest your data.

Five signs of a fake

  1. The address. Slight differences in the domain name, extra words or digits, unfamiliar zones.
  2. Time pressure. “Only 10 minutes”, “3 codes left” — a classic ploy.
  3. Unrealistic promises. Guaranteed wins, a bonus with no terms, “hacked” promo codes.
  4. Requests for data outside your account. A passport photo in a messenger, an SMS code, full card details.
  5. No open details. No information about the legal entity, the licence or a rules section.

How to check

  • Look up the operator’s status in the open PlayCity register: playcity.gov.ua.
  • Reach the casino only from trusted sources and bookmark an address you have already verified.
  • Look at the browser bar: a padlock next to the address means encryption only, not proof of “authenticity”.

What about our site

CosmolotBonus is not the casino’s official site. We publish reviews, and you activate the bonus on the operator’s page. We may earn a commission for a click-through — this is described separately.

If you have already entered your data

  1. Change your password at once and, if needed, block the card.
  2. Write to the genuine operator’s support.
  3. Never give an SMS code to anyone.

For careful use of codes the article why a promo code fails also helps.
